It's also cheaper too. The boat to the island operates return services most Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays, departing from Noumea at 7am leaving Isle of Pines at 5pm. It's a long day, but well worth it. We arrived to a picture-perfect setting - white sandy beaches, aqua water and clear blue skies.

The taxi boat to duck island runs from here, but beware, they change their schedules at will and close for the day without notice. Overall, great walking tracks here as well. Read more. We did the green train tour in Noumea last week. Was such a fun way to see the city. The tour operators were very well organised & departed on time.. The îlot Maître is the only Noumean isle with a hotel and is home to a large 2-km-long reef. Although there is no controversy about the name of Îlot Maître (literally Master Isle), there certainly is one about the neighboring isle!
